Insomniac Song (spokenword)

This is a spoken word piece that I wrote years ago that was about not getting any sleep. I’m posting this piece as response to The Reverie Journal‘s prompt for this week that was about fighting insomnia in some way. I really enjoy this poem, it is a live recording, so hopefully the audience sounds won’t annoy you. Thank you so much for listening and if you’re interested in writing a poem this week, definitely join us!

Aloha y’all

Microphone Check- A Poem

Microphone Check

I tap, tap, tap

the mic.

Face darkened room, faces

shifting shadows

hear feet shuffling,

restless legs.

Then my mouth drops

letting loose strings of

punctuated by

Giving way to clause

spilling over the brim with

and the audience takes incautious sips

burning the tips of their tongues,

so they have to shout

their ooohs…and ahhs…

because it’s just too damn hot.

Snapping fingers,

calling encouragement

until my last analogy

falls like a leaf from a

Softly swinging in the breeze

landing quietly

to thunderous applause.

This poem was written in response to this Monday’s prompt on The Reverie Journal that asks, if you could be anywhere, where would you be? Today, I’d like to be on a stage, reciting spoken word to a crowd who is loving it. If you have an idea for a poem, write it up and definitely link it up so we can read where you’d like to be.

Aloha y’all!

Plans for Poetry Month

plans for April

April is going to be a pretty busy month for me. It’s Poetry Month, so that’s when I kick things into high gear! I’ll be writing a poem a day, though I will not post it every day on here. However, one extra poem and a poetry video per week isn’t too bad, right?

On my Facebook page next month, I’ll be posting on Thursdays and Fridays posts from where I did Q&As and guest posts on

I’ll also be deciding on whether to host Just One Night on the blog or not. I’m not sure if this is the best place for it. If you have an opinion on it, let me know. I’d like to get a feel for how you feel about it.

This video will tell you about the plans for my YouTube channel, which will kind of work together with the blog. Any writing/poetry related posts, I’ll be sharing here, as per usual.

If I get about 80% of my plans completed, I’ll be feeling pretty alright about it all.
