Political Correctness in my writing?

reate few pAloha everyone! Let me go ahead and dust all of the cobwebs up in here.

Sorry little buddy...I'll get those for ya.

Sorry little buddy…I’ll get those for ya.

Today we’re going to talk about being politically correct in writing. Have you noticed the trend to curtail people and what they write, in fear of marginalizing people or making them feel uncomfortable? Today I decided I would discuss what I think about being politically correct in my work and a few possible lasting effects for not being PC. Of course most of this in a video. That seems to be my main means of communicating information these days. You know, other than the book. The book. Blood Roses and Honeysuckles. Remember that? The editor and the betas will be getting their copies this weekend. Also, the cover is being created as we speak. Crazily enough…we’re getting closer to a finished produced. Yikes. I’ll give you more info as we get closer. Of course, I tell my newsletter peeps things way earlier. If you want to join up, click here and fill out the form. You’ll get a letter once or twice a month.

But back to the video about being PC in my writing.

What’s your take on it? Let me know down in the comments.

Aloha y’all!

Rough Week 1 NaNoWriMo

I’ve had a pretty harsh week, but I’ve kept up with my vlogs. That’s something, I suppose. Right now I’m behind 846 words for the word count, which I’m definitely not loving. I’m hoping tomorrow will bring a brand new mindset and a brand new day.

Here’s some videos to let you know what’s, what on the islands.

I co-hosted a virtual NaNoWriMo write-in, you should check it out:

This is when the day got horrible and I tell you a little about it.

And this is when I decided that I’m not going to let bad days steal my shine. Bad days are going to happen. But what I decide to do with it is what’s the most important:

Also, I go against the norm here. I don’t think all rough drafts are crap. Just because it’s conventional wisdom, doesn’t mean it works for me. Here’s how I think of it:

How did your week go? Are you writing? Are you reading? I hope next week is a fantastic one for you and I’ll be updating you soon.

Aloha y’all!
