A little holiday cheer and how to make a book tree

Hey everyone! I know this is a week where a lot of us are either wrapping up our holiday season or just gearing up for it. Regardless of what you celebrate, I wish you joy and happiness. Good tidings, good friends, good meals. Memories that will last a lifetime and joy to keep with you when things get blue.

The Mathmagician and I will probably be eating our holiday meal on the beach. Then it’s to the movie theater to watch The Hobbit. And finally lounging at the house, eating leftovers. We realized that since we’re not living near our family, we are free to do whatever we want–like eat on the beach and then geek out for three hours.

We’re making hometown classics, pepperoni rolls tonight. I’ll probably pop pictures of that on Instagram. You should follow me on there, if you don’t already. @penpaperpad.

I’ve been such a crumb bum lately. Just all bah humbug when is 2015 going to be here? I asked on my author page what holiday movies should I watch to get into the spirit of things. I decided on Bad Santa, because I’d heard it was funny and I knew that would be the only way to road The Mathmagician into watching a Christmas film. We giggled. I felt a little insulted, because I took a quiz a week ago or so and it said I was Bad Santa. (I’m not that bad, guys!) I was sad because John Ritter and Bernie Mac were in it, which of course got me on a tangent about mortality. However, at the end of the movie, I was smiling and feeling good. It was late around 1 am, but I am my mother’s daughter and we decorate at odd hours of the night.

I finally put up our book tree.

I love it!
Here’s the comparison between this year and last year:

The one on the left sat propped¬†up on my desk…well “writing table” from Walmart. I was surprised it held the books. I wrapped them in matching blue and white paper, because we could only use so few. I wanted it to look more festive. I topped with a key chain of a surfboard. There was a little flower hidden there and The Mathmagician’s tiny Buddha. Those things are damn near impossible to see in the pic. The second photo is this year’s tree. I’m not going to tell you how it was made. I’m going to show you.
