NaNoWriMo and Me

I’m definitely doing it again this year. Setting myself up against a 50,000 word gauntlet. Going to compete against myself to see if I can win that prize of crossing the finish line. Where the biggest goal is being able to say, “I did it.”

NaNoWriMo is an international event where people sit their butts down and write a novel in one month.

Yup. One month.

It’s a crazy thought and a daunting task, but it’s not impossible. Of course, after the month the books won’t be publish ready. There’s so much rewriting, editing, editing, editing, rewriting to do afterward. However, whether you write a rough draft in 30 days or 3 years the rewriting has to happen. It’s part of a diligent process. But it’s worth it.

Last year was the first time I vlogged it and I’m going to do that again. Nope, I do not know what has possessed me to take up such a challenge and then decide to make it that much more difficult. Perhaps I’m as crazy as they say I am? (Who’s “they” don’t ask. You might know them.)

Here’s my video where I talk about what I’ll be doing next month. I’ll be trying to keep you up-to-date on here, but the easiest way to know what’s going on with my writing (especially for the month of November) would be to subscribe to my YouTube channel.

Are you going to participate in NaNoWriMo this year? Let me know down in the comments. Hope you enjoy the video! Aloha y’all!

  1. I can’t see you not completing anything you set your mind to. You got this. Even if you are crazy for vlogging it. 😀

  3. I am so happy for you, Tamara, and I wish you the very best. You’ve got this, though. I partook in Camp NaNoWriMo in July and absolutely loved it. I came close to completing my goal of 30k. Due to prior obligations, I won’t be doing it next month, but I do plan on going back to Camp in April. I look forward to your updates.:)

Thanks Dustin! I really appreciate it. I like the Camp NaNos too. Plus, I think the cabins add an extra bit of support that’s fun.
