Hey everyone! So glad that you stopped by today. This month is November, and it’s all about NaNoWriMo here at PenPaperPad.
“What’s NaNoWriMo, Tamara?”
Oh sure, let me tell you a bit about it. NaNoWriMo or National Novel Writing Month was started by a group of friends who wanted to finally write a first draft for a novel. The goal word count: 50,000 in 30 days. Sounds crazy? It may be, but it is doable. Now it’s a challenge that thousands of people partake in internationally. You can find out more about it at their official web site. If you’re thinking about doing it, I say jump right in. The first time I did NaNo, I learned about it after a week had already started. I jumped in knowing that I wouldn’t get the word 50,000, but I did get about 25,000 words in for a story that I’m definitely going back to at some point.
“Why are you telling me all about this Tamara? Weren’t you all about that poetry last month?
You are so right–anonymous person whom I’m addressing this to. In fact, I wrote so much poetry and it was wonderful. However, I’m here to write poetry, short stories and novels. It’s time to switch gears. I’m going to be making daily vlogs about NaNoWriMo-my journey, my word count, anything new that I’ve learned, frustrations, meetups, word sprints, whatever is interesting in that day. Even if I miss the day of writing, I’m going to talk to you guys about it.
I may also do some book reviews, bust out a couple short stories or poems if the mood strikes me this month. I’m a wild and crazy writer.
*Pssstt: During this month, I’ll also be setting up my newsletter, which when you sign up for it, you’ll get the first copy of my free short story–more about that later.*
Here is my first vlog about Day 1 of NaNoWriMo. I hope you enjoy it.
Let me know in the comments if you’re doing NaNoWriMo or NaBoWriMo (which is for writing blog posts). I do love hearing your thoughts!
